HMIS Platform
A health management information system (HMIS) is where routine health service data becomes something a facility, a municipality or a ministry can act on. Amakomaya's HMIS work covers the whole path: capture at the point of service, aggregation, validation, reporting and analysis.
What we build
Data capture
Localized data entry — including Nepali-language interfaces — designed for the people who actually fill in the forms: health workers at facilities and in the community. The eRecord user operations manual documents these workflows in detail, from enrollment through outpatient recording.
DHIS2 implementation
DHIS2 is the platform underneath much of this work: metadata configuration, org unit hierarchies, data sets, validation rules, scheduling and user management. The eRecord implementation guide is the reference our implementation and system administration teams work from.
Reporting and analytics
Aggregation of facility-level data into standardized reports, dashboards and pivot analyses so that reporting is a by-product of routine work rather than a separate monthly exercise. See analytics tools and GIS for the wider tooling landscape.
Terminology and indicator management
Consistent definitions matter more than any single dashboard. Indicator and concept management keeps data definitions stable across systems — see data governance and health data.
How HMIS connects to the rest of the platform
An HMIS that cannot exchange data is a silo with better charts. Amakomaya's HMIS work is designed to sit behind the interoperability layer:
- Structured exchange with other systems over HL7 FHIR.
- Architecture patterns from OpenHIE for national-scale exchange.
- Integration middleware for systems that cannot speak FHIR directly — see integration engines.
