Digital health technology · Health information systems · Healthcare interoperability
Co-Founder and Chief Health Informatics Officer at Aamako Maya Apps Pvt. Ltd., a Nepal-based digital health technology company.
I work on the layer of digital health that rarely gets discussed publicly: the architecture, the registries, the identifiers and the exchange standards that decide whether health systems can actually share data. Most of what I write on this site comes from having had to make those decisions in production rather than from reviewing them from outside.
"Our mission is simple: to make healthcare work better by helping different systems talk to each other clearly and securely."
What I work on
Healthcare interoperability. HL7 FHIR-based exchange: profiles, identifiers, terminology binding, conformance, and the migration problem that arrives with every new release. See HL7 FHIR in Nepal.
Health information systems. DHIS2 implementation — metadata design, organisation unit hierarchies, tracker programmes, reporting and analytics — and the boundary between aggregate reporting and clinical records. See DHIS2 in Nepal.
Digital health architecture. National and institutional architecture: registries, exchange layers, federated design for a federal state. See digital health architecture for Nepal.
Digital health products. Maternal, child and family health platforms built for Nepali-language users and intermittent connectivity.
Evidence of the work
Rather than asking you to take the above on trust, here is work you can inspect:
- FHIR platform — the HL7 FHIR infrastructure operated by Amakomaya, including the FHIR v6 upgrade path, at fhir.amakomaya.com and fhir.amakomaya.com/v6.
- Case study: building an interoperable maternal health platform — architecture, decisions, and what I would do differently.
- eRecord documentation — user operations manual and implementation guide for a DHIS2-based deployment, including Nepali-language operational guidance for health workers.
- HMIS platform — health information systems work: capture, reporting, analytics.
- Awesome Health — a knowledge base covering digital health standards, platforms, tools and infrastructure.
- Z+ Consulting — the health informatics consulting practice and its strategic domains.

How I write here
Three rules govern everything on this site, because digital health has enough confident claims already:
- Facts are sourced. Nepal-specific claims cite government documents, peer-reviewed research or official standards, and the sources are listed on each page.
- Opinion is labelled. Analysis appears in explicitly marked sections, so you always know when you are reading my judgement rather than the record.
- Unverified numbers stay out. No invented adoption statistics, coverage figures, partnerships or outcomes.
