Who We Are
Amakomaya — Aamako Maya, "Mother's Love" — is a maternal and newborn health initiative that brings together health information, digital technology, community health workers, midwifery services, and connections to the health system. It grew out of work using technology to improve access to maternal health information and services in Nepal, including mobile health, telemedicine, digital health systems, and community-based approaches that connect women with appropriate care.
Amakomaya is built by people, not a product team working in isolation: healthcare professionals, public health specialists, midwives and nurses, community health workers, and software engineers working together. Trusted health information and digital tools only help a mother and her baby if they are connected to the people and the care system around her — that relationship, between information, community support and clinical care, is what the organisation is built around.

Our Approach
Four themes connect everything Amakomaya builds and delivers.
Health expertise
Maternal health, midwifery, nursing and clinical care, grounded in public health practice.
Digital innovation
Digital health platforms, telemedicine and HL7 FHIR-based health information systems.
Community connection
Community health workers and trusted health information reaching women and families directly.
Continuity of care
Connecting women with the right level of care and keeping that connection across a pregnancy.
Our Work and Impact
The people above are behind the maternal health platforms, community field work, and health system interoperability documented on About Amakomaya, Newsroom, and the maternal health platform case study. Figures describing the reach of a specific product or service are kept on the page for that product, distinct from the wider initiative's history of work.
Better maternal health takes collaboration.
We work with health professionals, communities, institutions, and technology partners to strengthen connections between women and the care they need.
